How to Write a Killer Personal Ad
By Caterina Christakos
Most people give their name, physical characteristics and maybe a hobby in their personal ad.
Can you say boring?
Your personal ad is your introduction to the possibility of meeting your perfect mate. You won't meet him or her if they don't get past the first sentence.
Here are a few tips to rev up your ad and get the love of your life to click, email and call.
1) Start with a headline that sizzles or makes them laugh.
2) Create some imagery. Make them want to imagine what you look like.
- Instead of 5'2 110 lbs or short say Petite blond needs Stud to reach top shelf
- Instead of brown hair - Soft chestnut curls
3) Give them something distinctive about you that will make them remember your ad.
- Can you make a mouth watering apple pie?
- Do you enjoy traveling to unknown destinations with only a backpack?
- Do you have a funniest moment that you can share?
4) Keep it simple and keep it real.
- Be honest. If you are 300 pounds don't pretend to be athletic. If you love curling up on the couch with a good book, don't say you are up for anything.
5) Give yourself some credit. Show off your good qualities.
- If you are shy, say that you enjoy quiet evenings.
- If you have been complimented on your eyes, let it be known.
The main thing to remember is to have fun with your ad. This is your chance to shine and if a sense of style or humor shines through too, you are ten steps ahead of everyone else.
